1月去世，享年17歲，死因是膠質母細胞瘤（glioblastoma）。
他在準備參加英國普通中等教育證書考試（GCSE）時，因嚴重頭痛和言語不清被診斷出患病。 他的父母尼基（Nikki）和賈斯汀（Justin）為紀念這位"不可思議的男孩"，已為腦瘤研究慈善機構（Brain Tumour Research）籌集了近9.5萬英鎊。
該慈善機構表示，自2002年以來，英國國家癌症研究經費中僅有1%被分配給腦癌研究。
特雷哈恩夫人說：「當你經歷了失去孩子的痛苦，有很多方式可以處理這種情緒。 對我而言，因為伊桑天性善良、樂於助人，這很明確將成為他的遺產，我需要將悲痛轉化為説明那些面臨這種毀滅性診斷的人們的方式。 "
