英國專家宣布啟動一項「醒醒」的長期追蹤研究，將對來自全英各地的數千名嬰兒進行終身追蹤。這項名為「新生代」（Generation New Era）的研究計畫涵蓋多達 3 個英國嬰兒，是一個世紀以來第一個全國性出生佇列研究。

研究聯合主任、大學學院教授艾麗莎·古德曼指出："自倫敦起世界已發生巨變。這項研究將建立寶貴的科學數據，改善兒童生活，惠及後世。在快速變化的時代，收集少數群體和罕見發聲群體的數據至關重要。"
該研究不僅提供現代育兒圖景，從而探索疾病遺傳關聯。父母和嬰兒將提供唾液樣本用於基因分析，並為家庭提供資訊與健康、教育記錄的關聯。劍橋大學聯合主任帕斯科·費倫教授表示，研究數據將成為「英國事實上全球科學界的永久資源」。

研究特別關注數位媒體影響、教育特殊需求成因及兒童心理健康上升趨勢等關鍵領域。 2026年出生的英格蘭、威爾斯、北愛爾蘭和蘇格蘭嬰兒家庭將於明年秋季陸續收到邀請函。一項耗資4,280萬英鎊的專案由英國研究與創新署（UKRI）資助，是25年來首個全國出生佇列研究。
研究團隊特別強調將加強父親群體和代表性不足群體的參與。除倫敦大學學院外、斯旺西大學、阿爾斯特大學和愛丁堡大學學者也將參與資料收集。 UKRI經濟與社會研究理事會執行主席Stian Westlake表示，期待研究發現能「塑造更幸福、健康、公平的英國」。
