在兩年前出版了一本面向患者和護理者的自助指南后，布斯完成了他的第一本小說，該小說基於他自己的阿爾茨海默病經歷。
這本以哈特爾普爾為背景的謀殺懸疑小說名為《勿忘我：床頭板中的信》（Forget Me Not： The Letter in the Headboard），其中有一位患有失智症的角色。
他表示，這一診斷"是一個沉重的打擊"，尤其是在目睹了母親患病過程之後。 他認為保持開放很重要，因為"關於這種疾病存在太多錯誤資訊"。
'仍有大量可貢獻'
談到在患病期間花費兩年時間寫作這本書，他表示說這是一個挑戰"都算輕描淡寫了"。
